Once you feel that ping your tongue never leave it alone, you subconsciously keep playing with it.This is no laughing matter!
What are cold sores?
Cold sores (a cold sore), also known as fever blisters, are small sores, or blister-like lesions on the face or inside the mouth. They usually cause pain, a burning sensation, or itching before they burst and crust over. Cold sores generally appear on the lips, chin, cheeks, inside the nostrils, and less frequently on the gums or the palate.
Herpes Simplex Virus. Cold sores generally appear on the lips and are caused by the herpes simplex viruses; the most common cause of sores around the mouth is herpes simplex type 1, or HSV-1. Much less commonly, cold sores may be caused by HSV-2 (herpes simplex type 2), which may result from having oral sex with a person who has genital herpes.
Are cold sores contagious?
The cold sore virus or herpes simplex virus is very contagious – it is easily transmissible from person to person as a result of close contact. When it enters a human, for most of the time it remains inactive. Occasionally, however, certain triggers activate the virus, resulting in a cold sore outbreak.
How I Treated My Cold Sore
Cold sores are quite common. There is no cure or prevention for infected people, but steps can be taken to reduce their frequency and duration. There are many products on the market for treating cold sores which can be bought over the counter of any pharmacy. These products range from antiviral creams, tablets and cold sore patches. Knowing what works best and what is most effective is difficult when it comes to choosing!
My personal experience through experimentation
After trying several of the above cold sore products during the early stages of the symptoms, I found the cold sore went through its full cycle, What worked best for me (the second time around) was aloe vera gelly. I was introduced to aloe vera (known as the miracle plant) and became aware of its healing properties.
Knowing that Forever Living Products manufactures and produce the best aloe vera in the market place, I decided to experiment with their gelly product. Being as aloe can also be used topically, the moment I became aware of the symptom (the itching of the lip) I applied the aloe vera gelly (shown below) three times a day for a period of time. The result was quite remarkable. I was unbelievably impressed. The cold sore did not break out and scab over.
